Yes, extreme weather conditions occur, our proprietary sill interlock stands strong. Conventional slope sill designs allow the window sash to bow in the wake of powerful winds, but with our interlocking sash-to-sill technology, the sash is locked firmly into the window frame for extra strength.

At Window World of Denver, our double hung windows are made with tilt-in sashes. This means that both the top and bottom sashes of the window can be tilted towards the interior of your home, making it easy to clean both the interior and exterior.

To do this, you’ll want to follow these steps:

1. Unlock and raise your window about 2”.
2. Push the tilt latches inward and carefully pull the lower sash towards you and rest it on another object for support.
3. Next, you’ll want to lower the upper sash. Slide the upper sash down about 2”, then push the tilt latches inwards and tilt the upper sash inwards towards you, resting it carefully on the lower sash.
4. While both sashes are tilted inward, apply glass cleaner to the exterior glass then wipe them down with a soft cloth.
5. Once cleaned, lift the upper sash followed by the lower sash back into the upright position until the latches click into place.

Single hung windows and double hung windows both have window sashes that can slide vertically. On a single hung window, only the bottom sash can move, while the top sash remains fixed in place. On a double hung window, both the top and bottom sashes can slide as needed.

Both the upper and lower sashes of a double hung can slide to allow the window to open. To open the lower sash, simply unlock the sash and slide it upwards. To open the upper sash, unlock your lower sash, and gently lower the upper sash to the desired position.

To lock a double hung window, you must first check the alignment of your locks. Ensure that the upper sash is pushed all the way up and the lower sash is pushed down completely, until fully sealed. This will allow your locks to be secured without any obstructions.
